The Enlightenment School is an alterative learning program for middle and high school aged students with behavioral and truancy problems in Waterbury, CT.
Mission Statement
The Alternative Programs, in partnership with families and the community, will prepare students to meet the challenges of a changing, global society. Students will be provided with high quality educational opportunities in a stable, nurturing and stimulating environment where all students can learn the value of education, develop good work ethics, and become responsible citizens.
School Goals
- High Expectations for Students: To set and meet high expectations for achievement for all students in order to become responsible citizens, continue education, and prepare for adult life.
- Environment for Learning: To create the optimal learning environment for all students to feel secure and accepted in order to acquire knowledge, develop skills and refine attitudes in order to maximize potential.
- High Performance Standards for Administrators, Teachers and Support Staff: To attain high standards of performance and demonstrations of professional conduct by administrators, teachers and other certified and non-certified staff.
- Focus Resources Effectively and Efficiently: To provide accessibility to resources that will positively impact student learning and achievement with maximum efficiency and value for the community.
- Increase Direct Involvement of Citizens: To improve public education by connecting the Waterbury community through enhanced communications.

The Enlightenment School website was a project taken on by these young students. They worked with The Worx Group every step of the way, interviewing teachers, creating content and assisting the designer to bring The Enlightenment School to the web.
